God can use music to minister to us in every season. Susie welcomes singer-songwriter Aaron Shust back to the program. We revisit his latest CD, Morning Rises, and unpack his faith journey while listening to his newest songs.

Aaron shares his passion for the first song we hear, “Cornerstone,” an updated version of an older hymn. The deep rich theology of the lyrics drove him to praise he decided to share it on this album.

“My hope is built on nothing less
Than Jesus’ blood and righteousness
I dare not trust the sweetest frame
but wholly trust in Jesus’ Name.
Christ alone, cornerstone
Weak made strong in the Savior’s love
Through the storm, He is Lord, Lord of all.”

Aaron’s young son,  Michael, was born with Down Syndrome and a number of other health issues, and his tiny frame led to speculation that Aaron and his wife were neglecting to feed him. The state became involved, suspicions were raised, but Aaron and his family held fast to the truth of their innocence. The family was cleared of any misconduct, and they were able to share the love of Christ with the social workers and officers who visited their home. In the midst of the storm, Jesus was their Cornerstone. Michael is now a happy, healthy 2-year-old boy, further evidence of God’s grace to work in difficult situations.
