About Dr. Bill Maier
As a child and family psychologist, Dr. Bill has extensive experience in parent training and education. He is particularly interested in the impact of cultural trends on child development and family functioning. Dr. Bill holds masters and doctoral degrees from Rosemead School of Psychology at Biola University in Southern California and has served at respected institutions such as Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, Camarillo State Hospital and the Long Beach Child Guidance Center, where he worked with underprivileged children and families.
Many Faith Radio listeners may be familiar with Bill’s work for Focus on the Family, where he hosted the “Weekend Magazine” program, the “Family Minute” radio feature and the “Family Insights” TV news segments.
Dr. Bill co-authored the ground-breaking book Marriage on Trial (InterVarsity Press) which tackles the controversial issue of same-sex marriage and parenting. He is a regular contributor to Thriving Family Magazine and his articles and editorials have been featured in Current Thoughts and Trends, Today’s Christian Woman, The Houston Chronicle, The Detroit News, The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, and The Rocky Mountain News. He has done media interviews for CNBC-TV, Fox News Channel, CNN, and ABC’s World News Tonight.
Dr. Bill is known for his warmth, his off-beat sense of humor, and his fervor for coming alongside today’s parents, helping them navigate the challenges of raising kids in the 21st century. He and his wife Lisa have three young children and enjoy hiking, mountain biking, skiing and exploring our great country.
