Robert has been a pastor, writer, speaker and visionary for over forty years. For twenty one of those years, he served as directional leader of Fellowship Bible Church in Little Rock, Arkansas.  During that time the church grew from several hundred members to over five thousand and was widely recognized as being one of the most innovative and influential churches in America.

In addition, Robert has written and produced a number of best selling books, The Church of Irresistible Influence; Raising a Modern-Day Knight, etc., and numerous video resources which have sold well over a million copies. His Men’s Fraternity video series is nationally recognized and, to date, has been used in over eighteen thousand churches, hundreds of businesses and prisons, and in twenty foreign countries including China, Australia, Honduras and Spain.

Robert’s leadership has also helped to launch numerous organizations in Arkansas including Bethany Christian Services, a state adoption agency; Napa Valley Counseling Center; and Fellowship Associates, a church planting and consulting organization responsible for planting over forty churches, while impacting hundreds more. His “Sharefest” initiative has brought hundreds of churches together annually in Little Rock to serve the community.  It has also spawned similar initiatives  across the United States.  In 2012, Robert helped bring Downline, a city-wide discipleship ministry, to Little Rock where he now teaches part time as an instructor.

Robert also serves on a number of boards including the Bob Buford Institute, an organization which funds and multiplies innovation in American churches.   He is also Senior Advisor to Leadership Network, an organization that accelerates best practices in American and European churches.

Today Robert is still very involved in local church ministry, teaching and helping lead “SageWorks,” a ministry that provides vision and serving opportunities to church member 55 and up.  He also continues to travel throughout the United States and the world, consulting and speaking on various topics, particularly men’s issues, marriage and family issues, and leadership.

Robert and his wife, Sherard, have been married for 41 years and live in Little Rock, Arkansas.  They have four grown children and three grandchildren.
