John B. Wallace, DDS, was an active member of the LDS church for two decades. He graduated Magna Cum Laude from Brigham Young University in 1989 and later from UCLA with a degree in dentistry. He spent two years on a mission in Buenos Aires, Argentina, during which he performed over 20 baptisms. He was sealed in the Salt Lake temple and became Elders Quorum President in almost every ward he attended after his mission. “I was a home-‐teaching, tithe-‐paying, garment-‐wearing, Word of Wisdom-‐keeping, temple recommend-‐holding, cultural Mormon—truly the most conflicted of all creatures,” he claims. As he describes in his book, Wallace was a “cultural Mormon” because of difficulties with the LDS doctrine. For the last 20 years he has come to see the beauty of simply being a follower of Jesus Christ. He also serves as associate pastor over the singles ministry at his home church, Calvary Chapel Westgrove. Although he enjoys ministering to singles, reaching out to transitioning Mormons remains the primary focus of his personal ministry. He still sees Mormons as his people, his family, his inner circle. He loves them and hopes that the message of love comes through in his book. John enjoys golfing, skiing, and surfing and has a grown son who lives in Kauai.
