Every Thursday on Live the Promise, we do something called, “Talk to Me Thursday.” We pick a theme, ask a question, and take listener calls. On this edition of “Talk To Me Thursday,” we talked about courage. We asked listeners to share about a time that called for bravery and conviction. What an inspiring time we had together! Susie Larson shares why it’s important to say yes to courage.

Time and time again scripture charges us to be strong and courageous, not to be fearful or dismayed. But that’s easier said than done, right?

Yet the world needs our influence. And when we embrace courage, others benefit, and something inside of us gets strengthened. When we remember afresh who we are and whose we are, we can pray with authority and know that God hears our prayers—and sends angels into action on our behalf because of our request. We can walk humbly in the world because we know God has our backs. We can love others as Christ has loved us because He has so lavished His love upon us.

The ground under your feet, the season of life you’re in, the battles you face, the dreams in your heart? It’s holy ground. And God is with you. As you walk forward with a heart of faith, remember this: You are full of the power of the Holy Spirit, you abound in the love of God, and you’re rich with the wisdom and clarity that Jesus provides. So, from this day forward, may your yes and no reflect the fact that all of Heaven is on your side and that you have everything you need to be strong and courageous.

“Spirit of the Living God, fall afresh on me!

Put me right where I’m thinking wrong. Fan the flame within me, Lord! Release in me a fresh revelation of Your power and Your love. Open my eyes to see You at work everywhere I go. Awaken me to the overwhelming wonder of Your grace and mercy for everyone I meet. Teach me more about the authority I have in You. Help me to walk and talk and pray with boldness and courage, authority and strength, humility and hope. Forgive me for the land I’ve handed over to the enemy because of my own unbelief. Help me to reclaim what the enemy has stolen from me. Help me to stand in the gap for those who cannot defend themselves. Help me to reject any notion of inferiority and insecurity. They’re NOT from You so they don’t belong in me! Fill me once again with the knowledge of Your will. May Your peace be my guide so that every step I take and every commitment I make is prompted by Your direction in my life. I am Yours and You are mine. Thank You, Lord, for making me an heir. Help me to live up to my high privilege and calling. In Jesus’ Name, I pray. Amen.”
