Today, millions of Americans are gathering around state capitols, church sanctuaries, and kitchen tables to lift up our nation in prayer. Since 1952, the National Day of Prayer has been an official observance to “communicate with every individual the need for personal repentance and prayer, to create appropriate materials, and to mobilize the Christian community to intercede for America’s leaders and its families.”

Of course, we don’t have to wait for a special occasion to pray to our Father in Heaven; for believers, prayer is a vital part of our daily life. This annual day of prayer is a reminder of the power in God’s people collectively crying out with a unified voice to their Lord.

Pastors around the country are leading their congregations in prayer for their communities today. Pastor Adam Weber reflects on the importance of prayer in community as well as our relationship with God.

“Prayer is something that has had a huge impact on my own life…I’m so thankful for this truth: when I’m broken, when I’m excited, when I’m hurting, and when I’m restless, I can talk with the God who created the heavens and the earth. That’s an amazing thing!”

Prayer is one of the things that is so simple, yet we make it so complex. I think there’s a ton of people, both in and outside the church, who want to pray and want to talk with God but don’t know where to start.”

“(When) you really begin to understand the true heart of God, and that He’s pursuing us and constantly with us, it changes what prayer is all about. It just changes it so much. I think opening our Bible is a great place to start when it comes to prayer.”

Pastors and Christian leaders from across the Faith Radio Network joined us to lift up the needs of their communities and our listeners in prayer, including:
