God gives us the power and truth we need to endure when waiting on His perfect timing, but that doesn’t mean the wait will be without struggle or obstacles. Wendy Pope describes a few of these obstacles, starting with the lies of the enemy.

“The mind is the battlefield. It truly is. That’s why God says ‘put my word in your heart.’ We can have that word there to counteract the lies of the enemy. I believe the enemy tries to get a hold of us at a very young age and tell us we’re not good enough.”

“For me, my mind is an obstacle. If I don’t have my mind set on the right thing, which is the truth of God’s word, I’m going to believe the wrong things that the enemy is trying to tell me.”

The next obstacle Wendy addresses is our struggle with unbelief.

“I say, ‘Really, God? I don’t sense you, I don’t feel you.’ We base so many things just on feelings, instead of faith. ‘I don’t feel you, I don’t feel this happening.’ Instead of going, ‘I believe you. I know that you are God, and I know that you allow only things that are good to come into my life. Help me to see this wait as good.’

She points us towards Paul’s teaching of God’s truth in the book of Romans,

“I work all things together for good for those who was we are caught up according to my purposes.” Romans 8:28

“We need to make sure that we love God and we are intimate with God so we can counteract what the enemy is trying to mess with in our unbelief.”

Wendy says another obstacle that we face is we tend to get in our own way. We don’t fully trust that God has good plans for our lives, so we try to put our own plans in place.

“I can be my biggest obstacle when all I have to do is sit back, love God, let Him love me, and watch Him work His plan out in my life.”
