What does it mean to live your life to the fullest?

“I’ve been blessed to travel around the world. I have parasailed in Hawaii, zip lined in Costa Rica, I’ve hiked through the rain forest, I’ve taken Gondolas through Venice, I’ve been blessed by the pope.”

From the world’s perspective, Robin Bertram has lived her life to the full. In the process she has learned that the world’s perspective of success isn’t enough. There is still something more she fines herself searching for.

“All of that being said, joy is not about money, success, or travel. I’ve seen it all, I’ve heard it all, but joy only comes from an abundant sense of God’s presence in your heart.”

Scripture is clear that joy is not found in our circumstances, accomplishments, or successes but in God’s presence alone.

“You make known to me the path of life;
in your presence there is fullness of joy;
at your right hand are pleasures forevermore.” Psalm 16:11

Even when we don’t feel joyful, Robin encourages us to press into the truth that joy is always in reach when seeking fullness in God alone.  It is God alone who will give us purpose in this life and redefine what it means to live a full life.

“When we get to the end of our lives, we always ask ourselves, did I do what I was supposed to do here on earth? Have I lived my life to the fullest that it can be lived?”

Robin was talking to a man one day, and she asked him if he knew he was going to die tomorrow, what would he do today.

“He said, I would go and I would make things right with people. And I said: Why wait then? Why not go today? Why not make those relationships right today?”

“We think we have all this time and we think that relationships don’t really matter, but when you’re facing big obstacles in life, every relationship matters.”
