We’ve often heard it said that God loves all of His children equally. However, author and speaker Lisa Bevere says that God does not just love us equally, He loves us uniquely. She shares what it means that God loves us uniquely.

“This whole identity without rival concept came from a time when I went to South Korea with my husband. When I came home I was finishing my book Girls With Swords and I fell asleep at the laptop. I went to lay down and as I did, I heard God say to me, ‘I don’t love all my children equally.’ I said, ‘But God, you’ve got to love us all the same.’ In my Spirit I heard, ‘same means some of you are replaceable, equal means my love can be measured.’ He said, ‘I don’t love my children equally, I love them uniquely.’

Lisa turned to the dictionary to find out what the word unique really means. She was given three separate definitions.

The first definition of unique is a soul representative of.

“Think about that. If you are the only person who has ever been created to represent God the way you were fashioned to represent Him, wouldn’t the enemy want to distort that and get you to not have impact in your world of influence?”

The second definition is prototype.

“You are the beginning and the end of you.”

The third definition is without rival.

“This one is my favorite. That’s what I’m preaching, that’s what we’re singing. God has no rival so we are sons and daughters without rival. There is no one who can displace you in the heart of God. There is no one who can take your place at the table. You are a child of God who He loves without rival.”

When we realize that God loves us uniquely, we are freed from the bondage of trying to fight for God’s love among our peers. We are free to be who God created us to be because we are without rival.
