There’s no better time than Christmas to embrace the story of Jesus Christ. Susie Larson shares how our response to the Christmas story means everything.

“It’s the greatest story ever told and your response to it actually determines how your story will end.”

Jesus’s story is important because we are all a part of his story. If we embrace the story of Jesus with our whole hearts and receive the Gospel, we will spend eternity with Him in heaven.

When the shepherds were visited by the angels and told of the birth of the Messiah, the one they had been waiting for, they were excited and quickly made their way to Bethlehem.  They embraced Jesus’s story because they understood the amazing gift that had just come into the world.

“The shepherds were penned in by impossible religious demands that they couldn’t live up to and they knew it, they were looking forward to living free.”

The shepherds understood that the coming of the Messiah meant freedom. The story of Jesus is amazing because throughout His life, he exemplified the nature of God on earth. When we look at the life of Jesus, we see God.

“He healed, taught, touched, laughed, loved…this is what God is like.”

God is in control of the entire universe, yet He condescended to such a level as to become a human being walking the earth.

“The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word. After he had provided purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven.” – Hebrews 1:3

Ask God to help you be as excited for the return of Jesus as the shepherds were for His initial coming. Take time this Christmas to reflect on the amazing gift of Jesus Christ.
