Good, was her reply when I asked, How the flowers smell? My granddaughter snuggles her nose to smell dandelions in the Spring. From the glimmer in her eyes, she completely enjoys the sweet scent. A daisy appears to have a similar affect on her. Oh, and flowering trees. One of the little things in life, she wonders at the variety of smells in God’s creation.

Our heavenly Father set up His creation for enjoyment and activity. God has been busy. No one would want to take on His responsibility with sunrises and sunsets. The revolution of the earth, and all that goes along with that. With six days of activities in the book of Genesis, God’s Word records, And God saw every thing that He had made, and, behold it was very good. This brings us to the first part of Micah 6.8, He has showed you, O man, what is good. Someone once said to me, You can’t out give God. With all that His environment provides, God’s surrounds us with the truth of His goodness.

My granddaughter also enjoys God’s color filled sunsets and imagines that gentle clouds could very well be angels traveling upon the wings of the wind. After all, God makes the clouds His chariot. So some of the angels are, more than likely, traveling with Him.

It’s God’s green earth. Once in a while, it’s good to get your hands a little dirty, plant some seeds, and pray for a good harvest. I did this with my granddaughter, and she was thrilled this year to harvest some potatoes. But not everyone is a gardener or a farmer. To be honest when you’re removed from the growing process, a conscious effort to honor the gardening process is important. I for one do not grow enough to provide vittles for my family for an entire year. God provides each person’s with an occupation for funds to exchange for food that another person grows. Thinking about the food that God provides brings life into perspective.

Fairness is what a person often thinks of justice, but justice is without any animosity. God is totally objective. Jesus said in Matthew 5.45, That you may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he makes his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and the unjust. God shows His mercy every morning, His faithfulness in the night, and His goodness everywhere in between. That’s love. God provides a balance in nature for each of us to observe and appreciate. The balance in nature shows us His good. From 1 Timothy 2.4, Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth. Fairness is frequently subjective. While justice delivers believers from the power of darkness and gives us access to the kingdom of His dear Son.

One of the most effective ways to remember verses of scripture is through putting verses to melody. This is one of the practices that I do with my granddaughter at bedtime. It takes a little believing to have God help you put verses of scripture to song. It’s possible because Psalm 77.6 states, I call to remembrance my song in the night. And Psalm 119.54 reads, Your statutes have been my songs in the house of my pilgrimage. At different times in my life, the Holy Spirit has contributed the melody for scripture to help me remember a scripture. God is a vocalist, and the Word of God says so much in Zephaniah 3.17, He will joy over you with singing.

The second part of Micah 6.8 reads, And what does the Lord require of you, to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God? Humility acknowledges God’s balance in life. God freely gives wisdom to those who ask Him. Do you need God’s wisdom? It’s good to pray in a similar fashion that Jesus taught us to pray. Acknowledge your heavenly Father, like this, Thank you heavenly Father for Your wisdom that Christ paid for us to have, so I hear your just decisions. Thank you for Your Son’s strength to meditate on Your word of deliverance. Allow me to remember Your goodness with songs in my heart. Let those that see your work in this situation glorify You, Lord God. In the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, Amen.
