Are you a lukewarm Christian, or are you sold out for God’s purpose for your life?

Most Christians, if not all, can relate to at least one of the characteristics of a lukewarm Christian.

•  They don’t ask for God’s help when making decisions. They don’t ask God what His will is for their lives, they are only focused on their own will.

•  They can go an entire day without even thinking about God and they are not desperate for His involvement in their lives.

•  They are unaware of their own spiritual condition and need for forgiveness.

•  They have misplaced the desire to worship and have lost the overflowing gratitude that comes from being forgiven.

According to Jeff Kinley, Christians have forgotten how to be dependent and desperate for God.

“Dependence is you hope you get your paycheck at the end of the month. Desperation is you hope your parachute opens when you jump out of the plane.”

Christians lack the desperation necessary to live a life sold out to God. For Jeff it’s not good enough to just ask God to be with him during the day. He understands his true condition in this life.

“We don’t ask God to just bless this day, we say ‘Lord, we need you and if you don’t come through we know we’re toast, there’s no way we’re going to make it through the day.’

This posture of healthy desperation is what God wants us to bring into our ministries as well as our personal lives.

“Those are the kinds of Christians that are going to make a difference in this world.”
