“Will I ever amount to anything?”

We all ask the question at some point in our lives. Sometimes verbally, other times in the quietness of our hearts. We wonder if our lives will ever mean anything significant. According to God, the answer is a resounding yes.

Photographer and artist Jeremy Cowart knows what it’s like to ask this same question.

“I just grew up thinking I couldn’t do anything. My words were always ‘I can’t.’

Whether it was piano lessons, sports, or math, it seemed like Jeremy never excelled at anything.

His dad would always remind him of the famous verse from Philippians 4:13 which reads, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”

“The older I got the more I started to believe it, the more I started to achieve things.”

According to Jeremy true success includes doing what God has planned for us and taking part in something bigger than ourselves.

Through his artwork and photography, Jeremy has had to opportunity to work with celebrities and people of all different kinds. He doesn’t broadcast his Christian faith loudly, but he certainly doesn’t hide it either.

“I’ve done photos for transgender people, I’ve done photos for gay people, I just love working with people of opposing beliefs.

Jeremy believes we shouldn’t be afraid to work and interact with people who disagree with us. Instead, we should seek to show love to them without compromising our own beliefs.

“I’m tired of the wars were waging online as Christians. To me, working with people doesn’t mean you’re accepting their beliefs or you’re agreeing with them.”

Even if we don’t believe it, God has given each of us unique gifts and abilities. God has given us a purpose and an arena where we can proclaim His name while exercising our gifts. What’s yours?
