Highlight: Reclaiming our culture

It’s no secret that the Jewish and Christian faith is being overcome by their secular humanistic counterparts. But, how does this influence believers in everyday life? Os Guinness says that if the Christian and Jewish faiths continue to be swept under the rug, our civilization will crumble.

“The decisive contributions have been Biblical Jewish and Christian ideas. Our culture of giving and caring, the reform movements, the rise of the universities, the rise of modern science, and the human rights revolution – many people don’t even understand that the Jewish covenant is what lies behind the American Constitution.”

The very principles this country was founded upon are now being systematically eliminated. Can our society continue to we survive and prosper?

“All these things came from the Scriptures and yet they’ve been decisively undercut, especially in our elite institutions known as the universities, the press and media, half of the political world, they’re from a very different background and they’ve slowly driven Christians out.”

Sometimes Christians are forced out. Other times Os says that we cede control willing, without even realizing it.

“In other words, America was never stolen, it’s almost been surrendered. It’s time for Christians to wake up and really start living like Christians and winning the culture back for our Lord again.”

If we don’t push back against the culture and stand up for Christ, we will continue to lose more and more.

“For instance, the deeper Lot got into Sodom, he lost his distinctiveness, his faithfulness and just became a joke, and eventually sadly lost his wife.”

Before we can turn our country back to God, we must make sure that each and every one of us is turning our own face to the Lord as well. We all have a circle of influence within which God wants us to shine and glorify Him with our every thought, word, and deed.
