How can we live with resolve?

“I want to be more thankful and giving more sacrificially.”

Dr. Lina AbuJamra says we can strengthen our faith by giving when we barely have enough. Too often we think that a weekly check to the church is a minor act – but it’s directly tied to our faith.

“How we handle our money says a lot about our God. And how we handle our money also says a lot about our heart. And I think that Christian leaders have confused the church in that area.”

Some Christians are focused on the homes and cars they can eventually buy instead of the place in Heaven that’s waiting for them. That focus can send the wrong message to unbelievers.

“When we live as if the things of this world mean so much to us, the people around us wonder what heaven is for. I think that our eyes ought to be fixed on eternity.”

Research suggests that most churches operate on the tithes and offerings of only 5-7% of their members. What would happen if we stepped out in faith and gave more than we thought we could? If we gave just a bit more, think of the ministries, the services, the different things we could do in Jesus’ Name for our communities.

Jesus said it’s better to give than to receive (Acts 20:35). In other words, when we give, we’re the ones who get blessed! Lina is encouraged by that vision. If we want to start living with more resolve, we can start small by surrendering our finances and watching God grow His church.

“The Church is going to stand strong to the end. When we engage and when we give, we start seeing the blessing of it and we are changed. All of a sudden yielding’s not a problem! If you can yield our money, you can yield anything else. Money is an easy area to actually put your arms around. It’s not up in the air. It’s a very practical area; you want to give more, give more.”
