Are you dissatisfied with your work life? You’re not alone.

Sometimes, we get stuck in a job that stifles creativity and personal expression. However, even in those situations, God is at work.

According to Joseph Sundee of the Acton Institute, a proper perspective of work can help us get through the seasons of dissatisfaction and confusion.

“I think God can use those moments to transform our perspective, but also I think even in those moments it’s helpful to understand that we are providing a service.”

In God’s eyes, someone who washes dishes at a church event is just as important as the key-note speaker.

“If we focus not on our frustration, which is legitimate, but instead focus on what we are doing for other people.”

Sometimes being a Christian and following God’s plan for your life is hard, and that’s okay.

“I do think we need to be honest that part of the Christian mission isn’t easy when it comes to the really mundane work, it can be cross-bearing and God calls us to do that in a lot of ways.”

Our culture has reached a point where our goal is to avoid work at all costs, but that isn’t reality.

“We need to have perspective that work is going to be hard, and work is going to be toil at times, and it’s not always going to be fulfilling, but if we approach it as this is part of my sacrifice and something God has called me to.”

Ultimately, the Gospel is the key to being able to thrive in less-than-ideal circumstances.

“That’s why it can be so hard for people to get through those circumstances without the Gospel because it attaches meaning to even the most mundane, trivial task that can serve a broader purpose.”
