Will Christianity be gone in 3 generations?

Author and business leader Haydn Shaw has researched the millennial generation. He gives practical insights and Bible-based guidance on relating to today’s generation.

Statistics for church attendance do not support the  that Christianity will disappear over the next few generations,

“Church attendance is down 10% in 40 years. Many people who claim to be Christian never went to church.”

The numbers have not dropped as dramatically it appears. Instead the numbers used to reflect many non-believers.

“Christianity is not as bad off as we think, because it was never as good as we thought.”

We might not always have accurate statistics, but we can have hope for the next generation of believers.

“While they are down some, millennials still believe in God. Now, they believe that the God of the Bible is also the God of Islam and also the God of Buddhism and also the God of other religions…that’s been a change. But in many ways things have not changed nearly as much as we’re hearing. Christians love to scare each other with statistics that aren’t quite true.”

Is Christianity in today’s generation the same faith as our fathers?

“Yes and no. Yes it’s the same faith. No it’s not coming through the same way. One of things that Christian Smith discovered is…when he asked them questions about Christianity, they would often answer theological questions with psychological terms.”

Differences can be seen throughout generations in all areas of life, especially regarding beliefs and values. What’s more important is that we work towards acquiring wisdom and continue to share our faith in the world, outside of our own generation.
