What is the role of women in the ministry of the Church? Listen as Susie talks with Pastor Brady Boyd and Yvette Maher of New Life Church in Colorado. They talk about what God says about women who lead, and how we can empower women to step into their God-given callings.

Brady says this book was intensely personal for him.

“My daughter Callie turned 13 last year, and it was really an open letter to my daughter helping her to imagine the world that God would have for her, not only in the marketplace but also inside the local church. What kind of world do I want her to have?”

Brady says this is an increasing problem in our churches.

“We’ve been trying to run the race with one arm, and one leg tied behind our back, and we wonder why we aren’t getting ahead. We’ve silenced the voices of women and we wonder why the church is in decline.”

Brady emphasizes mutual respect and mutual submission.

“Women have something to say to men, men have something to say to women; we can’t silence either voice.”

How can we understand God’s calling for women within the Church? Yvette says it is possible to walk this out in love, without bitterness or resentment.

“Serve wherever you are. If you are a home-school mom, serve well. Wherever you are, do it wholeheartedly. The Lord will provide the path that He has purposed for you. Be a woman of conviction and wait on the Lord.”

What does this look like? Brady points to a few key themes in Scripture:

A commitment to unity
Mutual respect and attentiveness
Partnership between men and women in taking dominion over creation
Humility and forgiveness
Love of Christ above the glory of our gender
