God has a lot to say to you – more than you’ll be able to take in during your life-time. BUT he wants to hear from you too!

In the simplest of terms, prayer is talking to God. There are a lot of reasons to talk to God, but you need to know God likes to hear you talk—often!

Why should I pray? Many people only pray in times of emergency. Or, that we only pray to get what we need. Prayers at those times are good, but there’s more. In prayer, you honor God for who he is, confess your weaknesses to God and recognize he will help you overcome them.

How should you pray? Here’s what Jesus taught his followers to pray.*

Our Father in Heaven, holy is your name.
Your kingdom come, your will be done
on Earth as it is in Heaven.
Give us today our daily bread.
Forgive us our debts as also we have forgiven our debtors.
Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.
For yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever.

Essentially, that boils down to:

“God… I honor you for who you are!
I praise you for who you are and what you’ve done for me and others.
Help me to live by the rules of your kingdom.
Supply my physical needs today.
Help me forgive others, as you have forgiven me.
Don’t let trials lead me from you.
Protect me from evil.
You are all powerful and have all authority… forever.”

We have put together a great tool to help you as you pray for others. This is a place where you can leave a prayer request, or pray for others. Check out PrayerWorks.
