A rapidly changing, increasingly secular society can be a place of fear and discouragement for people of faith. Fortunately, we have an example of someone who’s survived and thrived in circumstances far worse than this. On this latest Connecting Faith, pastor and author Larry Osborne shares new insight into an old story as we talk about the life and faith of Daniel, as discussed in Larry’s new book . Together, we rediscover that – even in Babylon – God is still in control.

We look at both the similarities and differences between Daniel’s Babylon and the United States of America in 2015. You can’t get more Godless than Babylon was. In light of that, the direction our culture is heading is certainly a reason to be frustrated – but not to give up! As Christians, we have a hope for the future that’s not dependent on our circumstances. As you look at Daniel’s response to the darkest moments in his life, he is always aware that God is in control. It’s a call to remember that – even in the moments when our circumstances seem the most hopeless – God is with us.

So how was Daniel able to remain so composed and confident in the midst of the trials he faced? Dr. Larry says we need look no further than the cornerstone of Daniel’s life – what he believed about who God was. His understanding of God led to his hope, humility & wisdom. That behavior has a lot to teach us today. There’s a way we can respond to our culture in a Daniel-esque fashion. We can live in humility & respect people even when they don’t deserve it.

We also take a look at the life of Joseph and discover what we can apply today from the way he interacted with his culture.
