Kim Ketola discusses the tragedy of the Colorado Springs shooting that happened Friday. Despite local authorities having given no information from their investigation as to the shooter’s motive, many media outlets are reporting a political motive, and politicians are calling it “domestic terrorism.”

Is it absolutely wrong? Yes.

Is it a tragedy for everybody involved? Yes.

But is it domestic terrorism?

I don’t think it is. You know we have the characteristics of the shooter from the people that knew him, his former neighbors, saying that he was an off-the-grid mountain man, and we also have reports that he was shooting at people at random before he took cover inside Planned Parenthood. I don’t think that that qualifies as domestic terrorism.”

She goes on to explain that although she doesn’t want to diminish what occurred, it is premature to be labeling what exactly the shooting was for.

The victims’ names have not yet been formally identified to the public by police, but the families did give the names to Planned Parenthood to be released the media.

“…we need to absolutely give honor and dignity to [the victims] because they’re innocent people, and in the case of the law enforcement officer who lost his life defending Planned Parenthood though he was staunchly pro-life – we need to celebrate his life.”

The two victims that were killed, who have been named by Colorado Planned Parenthood, were Jennifer Markosky and Ke’Arre Stewart. Jennifer’s family says that she was there accompanying a friend.

The third person killed, Colorado Springs police officer Garrett Swazi, was a 44-year-old father of two who responded to the scene after the shooting started on Friday morning.

Nine others were wounded in the attack; all of those are expected to recover.

The suspect is in police custody, his name is Robert Louis Dear, and although there is no official report yet, Kim stresses, there are leaked reports from law enforcement saying that Louis Dear was saying “no more baby parts” while shooting.

“I presume in reference to the Center for Medical Progress videos exposing what was going on behind closed doors at Planned Parenthood Locations.”

But no motive has been officially confirmed.

“Despite that, earlier today Planned Parenthood used Twitter to say “We now know the man responsible for the tragic shooting at P.P.S. Health Center in Colorado was motivated by opposition to safe and legal abortion.” Well do we? And if that was leaked by law enforcement, I would like to have everybody have the facts before we start debating that and talking about that.”

Regardless of motive, what happened was a tragedy and we must keep the victims and families in our thoughts and prayers.
