Culture tells us that life peaks at 35… but God uses us far beyond that. Listen as Bruce Peppin joins us to talk about living an active thriving faith in the latter half of life.

Bruce shares his own journey.

“I hit a wall [in 2000]. Here I’m working for Focus on the Family… and I had to take a month off of work and became aware of two mindsets that were tripping me up. I thought I knew how my life was supposed to be lived. [And] I thought I was on my own, that God wouldn’t show up. What I realized is that God has such a better plan for our lives.”

Bruce shares some of the challenges of the mid-life season.

• The tendency to become a child-centered family.

• Misplaced expectations on God and others.

• Despair over not accomplishing the goals you once made for yourself.

• Envy of the younger generations who have more strength, vitality, and time.

How can we use our current season of life for God’s purposes?

“We have to let go of the expectations we’ve had all these years. Where He takes us is going to be better and far different than we ever envisioned. Hold steady. We think in days; God thinks in decades.” Bruce compares our lives to the Mona Lisa, which was painted over months in painstaking detail, one microscopic layer at a time. “God is layer by layer, asking us to trust Him.”

We have a life of influence to live. Bruce points out that our life is not a pebble in the pond of life but it is a boulder. Our willingness to go deep with God will determine how big that boulder will be.
