People from all walks of life are taking up the challenge to fight poverty and injustice. While we sense what needs to be done, we often don’t know how to do it? World Relief President Stephan Bauman reminds us that change is possible with the right vision and the right heart. Bauman shares clear biblical thinking, powerful stories, and practical tools for a sustainable impact in our world from his book .

If you could save the world, would you? Many people believe that they don’t have what it takes to make a difference in the world. Stephan would beg to differ. No matter what your economic status is or what you are called into, you can take part in changing our world.

“Everyone is called….none of us should give up or lose hope”

Sometimes God calls us to work as a missionary and sometimes our duty is to stand firm in prayer. Regardless of what we are being lead into, we can get excited about the work of the Holy Spirit in each of our lives.

“Discover what the Holy Spirit is already doing then apply our gifts and talents to it”

Bauman describes this process as community mapping. He advises us to start by seeking out the need our local communities, then ask ourselves, ‘what everyone is already doing here?’ It can help identify our own passions and open the doorway of opportunities.

“True change begins in the hearts and actions of ordinary people”

Another important part of the blueprint for change is discovering what makes us greive. Stephan encourages us all to ask ourselves tough questions to gain insight into our own heart. His advice is to start by asking, what makes you grieve? Who do I know in my area that is currently involved? What are the resources that it would take? Although money can assist in tangible ways for solving challenges we face in the world, it’s important that we recognize the power of prayer and service.

“God’s calling us to take our faith outside of the church into our everyday lives”

Often times, God surprises us once we step out in faith and trust His hand to take hold of us. What His blueprint will reveal is surprising, encouraging and has the power to change the world. As Stephan refers to as a ‘beautiful collision’, we can all experience the joy of God’s grace and love in our lives by becoming the hands and feet of Jesus in our communities and around the world.

Changing the world…is it possible?
