“Open my eyes, that I may behold wondrous things out of Your law.” Psalm 119:18

Time and time again Ron Rhodes has been struck by the powerful truth outlined in Psalm 119:18. We don’t have to put pressure on ourselves to be able to understand Scripture because all we need is the Holy Spirit to guide us.

“Now we have received not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we might understand the things freely given us by God.” – 1 Corinthians 2:12

We don’t have to worry about whether or not we will learn if we read the Bible. All we have to do is patiently wait for the Holy Spirit to reveal God’s Word to us.

“It makes sense because all Scripture is inspired by the Holy Spirit and He who inspired the Scriptures is also its supreme interpreter.”

As Christians, we already have the best Bible interpreter inside of us, ready to reveal God to us.

The work of the Holy Spirit to help us understand Scripture is a lifelong process. We won’t ever arrive at a perfect understanding of God and his Word on earth, and Ron says, that’s okay!

“I for one am very thankful for the Holy Spirit.”

Without it, we would not be able to understand the Scripture and it would have no effect on our lives. As Christians, we should wake up every day with a song in our heart because God has blessed us with such an amazing gift.

In the book of John, Jesus sheds light on how spectacular the gift of the Holy Spirit is.

“Nevertheless, I tell you the truth: it is to your advantage that I go away, for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you. But if I go, I will send Him to you.” – John 16:7
