How does God minister to your heart through music? Dan and Sandy Adler of Heart of the City worship band join Susie in studio on the Monday edition of Live the Promise to share their music and faith journey.

Dan starts with this statement: “When you exalt the Lord, something happens. Spiritual things happen.”

He and Sandy have a passion for music, community, and ethnic reconciliation. They’ve written a new album called “Acoustic Light,” and they unpack the stories behind the music.

• When I See You

We are all looking forward to the day when Jesus comes back for us and we won’t feel pain, loss, emptiness, or rejection ever again. Dan explains.

“Life is hard and we don’t see Him. And sometimes it’s gray and hard to know the joy and the hope and the fact that we’ll be changed, we’ll be like Him – what will that be like?”

• My Eyes Are On You

Dan wrote this regarding King Jehoshaphat’s response when he was surrounded by an enemy army.

“He called a sacred assembly, worshiped the Lord, and said ‘We don’t know what to do, but our eyes are on You.’ My life is fixed on You.”

• All Day All Night

• Wings of Eagles

• Mercy Like Raindrops

Dan and Sandy also served as worship leaders at Church of the Open Door and have led worship at churches and conferences across the region. Their 22-piece intercultural band is well-known around the Twin Cities for embracing ethnic diversity and presenting a picture of the worship that is to come in the New Jerusalem. Their songs include “It All Belongs To You,” “One True God,” and “When I Think About You.”
