Raising adolescents in a world pushing same-sex attraction is a challenge. Thankfully, wise advice and biblical counsel is available. Listen as we talk about authentic masculinity and femininity in a gender-confused world with Glenn Stanton, director for family formation studies at Focus on the Family, author of Secure Daughters, Confident Sons. It’s crucial to realize that this entire discussion around gender is not simply physical – it’s spiritual. God made men and women in His image – equal yet distinct. What does this mean, and why is the biblical view under attack? Glenn gives encouragement in several areas of raising children to know who they are:

• What it means to be made in the image of God.
• Common stereotypes of boys and girls.
• How to apply Proverbs 22:6 and what it means to “train up a child in the way he should go”.
• How to start a dialogue in the home about the callings of men and women.
• The importance of modesty and valuing women

Glenn points out that in today’s feminist culture, men are cut down and women are encouraged to take charge of things. This often results in passive men and domineering women. There is a balance in male-female interaction that builds both sexes up instead of elevating one and demeaning the other. Glenn calls us to recognize that men and women are wired with different strengths and gifts; when we embrace those strengths and gifts, our view of God starts to right itself, and the entire culture can be turned back to truth. What does this look like? Glenn says, it’s a partnership. Men lead and protect women, specifically in their own families. Women use their strength to build relationships through marriage, ministry, and raising children. While many in today’s society scoff at the biblical model, it leads to thriving families, instilling the children within them with a sense of stability and peace.
