Maybe you go to church each week or have read the Bible all the way through, but do you truly know God?

Listen as Susie talks with motivational speaker Bob Colquhoun. He’s going to share his own journey of faith from church, to drug abuse and partying, to prison, to new, abundant life in Christ.

Bob’s message is simple:

“When you’re in love with God, it becomes action. It becomes obedience.”

Bob grew up in a military family and lived in a different place every year until sixth grade.  He grew up in church and sang in church choirs, but “there was no relationship. We went to church because my mom wanted us there.” He even joined the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, but the heart change had not happened.

Once Bob left high school, he moved out of state, joined a rock and roll band and became involved in drugs and partying.  Even in the midst of his rebellion, God kept him alive despite two overdoses, run-ins with gangs, and suicide attempts. In Bob’s words,

“I look back at my past and I really should be dead or in prison… the miraculous things that God did in my life… God was continually there.”

Finally Bob ended up in prison for a crime he didn’t commit. He was classified as a danger to society and put in prison with serious offenders. That’s when the Lord reached down. He went to chapel one day and met Jesus, the Jesus who was “alive and well.” A fellow prisoner shared the gospel with Bob and he started studying the Word. He started leading Bible studies with other men and eventually was released.

Bob shares his story of redemption at prayer breakfasts, schools, concerts, even fast-food restaurants, and his words to prodigals are ones of hope. God is not far from each one of us. No matter what you’ve done, it is never too late to return to God.
