Is America in a state of spiritual emergency? And what would it take to bring about a spiritual awakening in our nation?

Byron Paulus is the president of Life Action Ministries and director of the One Cry movement, made up of believers who are seeking a nationwide revival.  His most recent book is titled OneCry: A Nationwide Call for Spiritual Awakening.

We welcome him to the program to home in on the six realities of spiritual awakening, and what it would look like if it happened here. He drills down on what the beginnings of awakening look like and shares an extraordinarily hopeful example from today’s world.

Highlight – Hope for revival

Byron says that sometimes we misunderstand the nature of revival. It’s not simply an event, and it’s not simply the act of evangelism.

He also points to the variance between “crying out” and “crying up to Him”. Sometimes we cry out to our neighbors. We cry out towards pain or sin, instead of crying to Him who is really in charge!

Revival is defined as an awakening of our spirituality, and an intensifying presence of God that sees His work accelerated.

“Revival is falling in love with Jesus all over again.” – Byron Paulus

Byron says we just don’t begin imagine what God can do in even 10 seconds! What’s so key is the position of our heart. Are our hearts open & willing to follow Him?

“God doesn’t send revival to a closed heart.” – Byron Paulus

It’s true – God likes to do His greatest works in the most unlikely places where there’s no other explanation for what’s happened and He gets the glory. Byron reminds us of great hope. The darker the enemy is, the lighter God is.
