“In sickness and in health, ‘til death do us part.” God gives us strength to weather every storm, and He brings beauty out of every trial. Listen as Susie is joined by Joni and Ken Tada to talk about their faith story, marriage, cancer journey, and the God Who sustained them through every circumstance.

Joni shares her story of coming to Christ at age 14 but looking at faith as a way to make Jesus work for her rather than serving and living for Him. By her senior year of high school, Joni knew something was off in her life, and asked God to bring her closer to Himself. Shortly after graduating from high school, Joni broke her neck in a diving accident. Though she would eventually minister through her paralysis and subsequent wheelchair through an international ministry, Joni struggled for the first few years to understand why God had allowed this in her life. Her perseverance in faith built a strong foundation for the challenges she and Ken would face in their marriage and health.

The Tadas share several aspects of their story:

• What attracted Ken to Joni
• The funny story of their first date
• How to build a strong prayer life as a couple
• The importance of honesty and trust in a marriage
• Ken’s charge to men to love their wives as Christ loves the church
• How Joni keeps a sense of humor in the midst of her disability
• What excites Joni most about heaven

Ken speaks about his wife with great affection. “If I were going into a spiritual battle – as we all are – I would want Joni in my foxhole.”

Joni and Ken’s book is An Untold Love Story.
