Melissa shares that she grew up in a home where “adoption was our normal.” She was adopted by a couple who struggled with infertility and found out the truth about her birth when she was 14. Her mother sat her down after a remark by her older sister, and revealed the devastating truth – Melissa herself was born during a failed saline abortion.
Melissa shares that she struggled with shock and anger initially, but was able to overcome and forgive her birth parents because of her own faith in God. She states that “I am not a victim, I am an overcomer by the blood of Jesus… He gave me the gift of a family and life and health…Â I can’t be angry.”
Melissa invites all of us to lay down our burdens of anger, resentment, or bitterness… “Offering my family forgiveness, and wanting them to know that, truly truly set me free.”
