Wife and mom of three, Aimee Byrd brings whole new meaning to the term “Housewife” on this edition of Connecting Faith!

Jo welcomes Aimee to talk about the difference between being a “standard” Housewife and being a Housewife Theologian. That dichotomy is the subject of her new work, Housewife Theologian: How the Gospel Interrupts the Ordinary

Knowing God is an eternal matter, and the more we learn to know Him, the more that knowledge will impact our daily lives. Aimee emphasizes that we are lay theologians. However, knowledge of God is not a guarantee of faith. Our faith in Jesus isn’t a separate issue from our knowledge of God. Aimee offers the example of a wife placing her faith in her husband, but then not caring to get to know anything about him.

“We are all knowers of God in some way. Do we really know Him according to His truth?”

Highlight – Knowledge

In a fascinating discussion of how women can embrace their common calling while rising above our cultural expectations, we these topics:

•  God’s great faithfulness extends to all things, and isn’t dependent on the ups and downs of our life.
•  We are still sinners & concurrently new creations in Christ.
•  The term ‘submission’ has become contentious, but Aimee focuses on the profound nature of God’s call that a husband love his wife as Christ loves His Church. Then we examine the implications of a call to be ‘helpers’ as wives.
•  On the path to spiritual growth, don’t forget to take the time to talk about the sermon each week with your mate.
•  An understanding of true ‘beauty’ has been completely lost in today’s world. How can we regain the real meaning of the word?

“You can’t have beauty without truth.”
