Do you have a heart for worship across ethnic and cultural lines? On the weekend edition of Live the Promise we hear Susie’s discussion with Dan Adler and the Heart of the City Worship Band. We hear their testimonies of racial-cultural reconciliation, and spend some time worshipping as the body of Christ in many cultures and languages.

The body of Christ is very ethnically divided, and when a church is ethnically diverse, it’s often segregated generationally. Dan and Sandy share their heart for seeing John 17 lived out – that we would be one as Jesus and His Father are one. They travel with a 22-piece band of people from different backgrounds and generations. Being so intentional about intercultural community comes with its challenges and takes humility and forgiveness, but the result is a rich and beautiful witness to the unbelieving world. Sandy points out that they feel a call to “take back the music of the world” and redeem it and use it for praising the “One True God.”

Listen as we meet the band members and hear their stories of faith and redemption. Here are the songs featured during this program:

  • One True God (Eastern influence)
  • It All Belongs To You
  • I Sing to You My Savior (featuring English, Spanish, and Portuguese)
  • He Rides the Clouds (with Native American influence)

  • Amazing Grace
