John & Kendra Smiley are regular Faith Radio contributors, and this Christmas, they share with you their Christmas ABCs, some basics for the holiday season to help you stay Christ-centered and God-grounded.

A – Always remember who this “birthday party” is for…Jesus.

B – Be a cheerful giver.  (2 Corinthians 9:7 -Each man should give what he has decided in his heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.)

C – Choose to glorify God with your actions and decisions.

D – Don’t overindulge your children.  Quantity is not important (or healthy!).

E – Emphasize giving to others and model that for your kids.

F  Fight the urge to focus on the perfect gift, the perfect party, the perfect meal or being the perfect host or hostess with perfect children.  With the emphasis on any of these, you’re bound to come up short.

G – Greet those you meet with a pleasant “Merry Christmas!”

H – Hark the Herald Angels Sing…and so can you!  Sing to the Lord.

I – Imagine what the shepherds thought and felt as they greeted the Christ child.

J – Jesus is the reason for every season.

K – Kindness can have a lasting effect.

L – Live out God’s word.

M — Model God’s love to your family in thought, word, and deed.

N – No room in the inn!  Make room in your heart.

O – Offer your thanksgiving to God and teach your children to thank Him.

P – Praise God from whom all blessings flow.

Q – Quiet yourself to listen to the still small voice of God.

R – Rejoice in the Lord…always!

S – Stress can get the best of folks this time of year.  Focus on the eternal.

T – Take time for a quiet time each day.

U – Uplifting music is balm to the soul.

V – Victory is ours in Christ Jesus!

W – Willingly make adjustments and be flexible when things don’t go as planned.

X – eX-amine yourself and allow God to make eX-traordinary changes in your life.

Y – You are God’s workmanship.

Z – Zeal; don’t leave home without it!
