One of the most commonly spoken marriage vows is…for better or for worse. But happens when ‘worse’ comes to pass? Jo welcomes Larissa Murphy, who shares a powerful testimony about her marriage from her latest book, eight twenty eight. She explains how she stood firm in her marriage in some profoundly difficult times.

We go back to the beginning and hear how Larissa met Ian in college. Then came his shocking car accident and the injury to his brain. The aftermath of the accident left Larissa with a huge decision to make, about which she explains:

“I wasn’t going to leave him until I could understand what was going on in his heart.”

Larissa explains the remarkable significance of the ’28s’ in her family’s life, including the impact that Romans 8:28 has made.

In spite of the myriad challenges, we hear how Ian’s disability has also been a glimpse for Larissa into understanding Christ-like love.

Highlight: Fresh perspective

Then, in our show’s second half, we introduce Peter Larson, director of Family Fest Ministries. and our new Faith Radio blog contributor on Marriage and Family!

Peter addresses our role as parents. Is it our job to pass along our faith to our kids or is the church’s? We tackle the implications of the answer as well.

What is a ‘sticky faith’ and why is the concept something to chase after? Peter says that unless our kids see faith in us, they simply won’t get it. It won’t stick.

“God has placed you in a place to be experts for your kids.”

We need to adjust the methods we use to pass along our beliefs based on a child’s age.

Interestingly enough, Peter says that – though we live in a culture where we try to mask so many things – our kids know the truth!

We also address the need for margin in our lives & the vital importance of investing time with family and friends.
