When you’re over seventy and still want to make a difference in God’s Kingdom, you want to ‘Serve Now.’ That’s the name of the mission organization founded by veteran Christian mission leader and author Dr. Lars Dunberg.  Lars has been serving in global ministry for 50 years and shares his compelling life-experiences with us on Connecting Faith. He shares some of his amazing story, as he traveled through India, Nepal, Africa, and Sweden and spreads of the gospel and his book series  .

Dr. Dunberg explains that at the age he was expected to retire, he couldn’t find any scriptures about retirement and felt led to stay working.  Not just to work for himself but for the kingdom in seeking the lost for Christ.  His heart for others in ministry has lasted over 50 years and he tells of compelling and encouraging stories of global evangelism.

“Following Christ is hard but it’s simple, we make it complicated”

He tells us exactly how we can procrastinate later and Serve Now!    What are the things that are holding us back from engaging and serving others?  As Christians, we are to love others as Christ has love for us.  ““A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” -John 13:34-35.

What are some ways that we can love others, not pretend to, but really love them?  One of the most effective ways we can honor God and impact the world through His love is by serving.  A major problem for many Christians is not fully understanding the gospel enough to share it with others.

“The power of God’s word when it is understood, is phenomenal.”

Dr. Dunberg guides us to understanding by bring us back to the basics of the Christian faith and serving.  He explains four key concepts that have seemingly been forgotten by many people and would change our lives dramatically:

  • Christ is the answer
  • Spread the Gospel
  • ‘Jesus loves me, this I know’
  • Repentance

“If we have no repentance in our life, Jesus didn’t need to die.”
