We’re always trying to feel good about ourselves. We’re always trying to fill a void. We’re always trying to gain approval and validation, but if you’re not looking to God, you’re looking for these things in the wrong place. Simply put, the desire for validation is one of the strongest motivating forces known to man.

We tackle a new subject on this episode of Real Recovery as Bill and George take a look at approval addiction. Bill says, “We put way too much emphasis on approval from the world, and I think the goal is to seek holiness.”

Addiction approval is an intangible addiction that tonight’s guest, Jenny Barlow, has wrestled with her whole life. Jenny’s story begins in high school where she was involved in everything from cheer leading to the debate team, and it leads us to today where a crisis has forced her to find her validation and worth, not in the approval of others, but in God.

Plus, as they do every week, the guys take a look at a recovery step and on this edition, they focus on step 2, “Come to believe that a Power greater than ourselves could restore us to sanity.” George defines sanity as, “believing in the truth, relying on the truth, and acting on the truth. Jesus said ‘I am the Way, I am the Truth'”
