Anne Graham Lotz of AnGeL ministries examines heaven and faith in and her newest book Expecting to See Jesus: A Wake-Up Call for God’s People. In her perspective, Christ’s return is imminent, and Christians should be prepared and informed.

“I’m convinced that we’re living at the end of human history as we know it.”

Because of the times, she sees urgency in declaring the gospel and Christ as the one and only way go God and heaven.

“I don’t have a problem with Jesus being the only way, I’m just thankful that God made a way.”

Christians today, according to Anne, have watered down the gospel and diminished the reality of heaven, and the reality of hell. ‘Whatever works for you’ has become the motto of many too afraid to face off with the radical forgiveness of Christ.

An easy gospel of kindness and good feelings is comfortable.

Comfortable it is, Scriptural, it is not. In such comfort Christians have, in a way, fallen asleep to the signs of the times.

“God’s shaking his church around the world, we’re living at a very critical time.”

Scripture tells us signs that we can watch for that will mark the second coming of Christ, heaven coming to earth. Anne points to events like Hurricane Katrina, 9/11, record-breaking forest fires, war in Afghanistan and the tsunami in Japan as alarms going off before Christ’s return.

The problem? She doesn’t see the church waking up to these alarms.

“In the Old Testament, when God wanted to get his people’s attention and they weren’t listening the the prophets and they weren’t giving him any attention he would send natural disasters or invading armies to wake them up. I believe that’s what he’s trying to do today. He’s trying to wake us up.”

What we need to do, no matter what happens, is cry out to  God.
